HAMPTON — Superintendent Lois Costa wishes to share that leaders from the Hampton School District met with members of the Hampton Police and Fire Departments last week to discuss safety and security measures for the upcoming school year.
On Tuesday, July 26, the community partners gathered to discuss safety preparedness recommendations about mental health, planning, training, training exercises, communication and facility upgrades.
The recommendations came from a report prepared by the New Hampshire School Safety Preparedness Task Force in the wake of the 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneham Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. The group also reviewed the findings of the Texas House of Representatives Investigative Committee on the Robb Elementary School shooting in Uvalde, Texas earlier this year.
At the meeting, The Hampton School District and the Hampton Police and Fire Departments discussed their commitment to working together and taking actions to help ensure that there is a secure environment within the District.
“Although these conversations are heavy-hearted for all, they are necessary as we plan for the opening of schools,” Superintendent Costa said. “We are grateful for the help of our community partners, and we look forward to these continued conversations as we keep the health and wellbeing of our community members central to our daily work.”
