EAST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Paul O’Brien is pleased to report that the East Bridgewater Police Department will be swearing in three members to new positions this week, with one new officer also joining the department.
On Wednesday, Aug. 3 at 4:30 p.m., three new sergeants and one new officer will be officially sworn in by Town Clerk Sue Gillpatrick in the main floor conference room of Town Hall at 175 Central St.
The three new sergeants and new officer to be sworn in include:
Detective Sgt. Ryan Cramer, who was promoted from the rank of detective effective July 31. Detective Sgt. Cramer has been with the department since 2013, starting as a civilian dispatcher. He was then appointed a permanent-intermittent officer in April 2014, and appointed as a full-time officer in July 2015. He was promoted to detective in April 2018.
Sgt. John Smith, who was promoted from the rank of officer effective July 31. Sgt. Smith has been with the department since 2012, starting as civilian dispatcher. He also was appointed as a special police officer in 2012, and became a permanent-intermittent officer in April 2016, and then appointed as a full-time officer in July 2016.
Sgt. Dennis Andre, who was promoted from the rank of officer effective July 31. Sgt. Andre has been with the department since 2000, starting as a civilian dispatcher, then becoming a permanent-intermittent officer in 2004, and then appointed as a full-time officer in March 2006.
Officer Kyle Bersani, who was appointed as a full-time officer effective June 5. Officer Bersani attended and graduated from the Plymouth Police Academy for Reserve Officers in 2018. Officer Bersani was a special police officer in the Town of Whitman from 2018-2020 and was hired as a full-time officer in the Town of Hanson in July 2020. Officer Bersani worked as a full-time police officer in Hanson until June 2022, when he was hired full time by the Town of East Bridgewater Police Department.
