STONEHAM — Chief Matthew Grafton is pleased to announce that the Stoneham Fire Department has welcomed a new firefighter to the department.
Firefighter Nick Toussaint was sworn-in Thursday, July 28 at Stoneham Town Hall by Town Clerk Maria Sagarino.
Toussaint will be working at the Stoneham Fire Department for two-weeks of in-house orientation training before he begins his firefighting training at the Massachusetts Fire Academy in training Class 305. Training will begin at the training academy in Stow on Monday, Aug. 8.
Toussaint grew up in Stoneham and graduated from Stoneham High School in 2015. Following graduation, he joined the United States Army where he served as an Infantryman at the Lewis-McChord Joint base in Washington. During his time in the Army, Toussaint achieved the rank of Specialist (E-4) and was later honorably discharged in 2019.
After the Army, Toussaint worked part-time as a janitor for Stoneham Public Schools, completed EMT class and received CPR/AED certification.
“I am honored to have a new member join our department,” said Chief Grafton. “Nick is a hard-working individual and I am excited to have him as a part of team. I wish him the best of luck in training and look forward to seeing where his career takes him.”
