LAWRENCE — Chief Executive Officer Carina Pappalardo would like to thank the groups and individuals who donated to the Psychological Center from mid-February and early May.
The donations provide critical financial support, food, and furniture that help assist the women in recovery at the Center’s treatment programs, Pegasus House and Women’s View, and the guests at the Daybreak Shelter.
During their school vacation in February, Preston, Jocelyn, Michael, and Robert, students at Central Catholic High School, in Lawrence, volunteered at Daybreak Shelter and donated over 50 bagged lunches for residents at the program.
On May 3, $1,000 was donated by Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union to help the Center achieve its mission, “To empower people to reclaim their lives by providing substance abuse education & treatment, recovery support services, mental health counseling, safe shelter, and life skills for a future filled with promise.”
Marouane Missbah and Yasmine Dakiri generously donated 50 bagged lunches for residents at Daybreak Shelter, also on May 3.
Handmade wooden tables and benches built by the students of Brooks School, in Andover, were donated to the Daybreak Shelter on May 9, and are now being used often by guests.
The Merrimack Valley Food Bank, in Lowell, provided two Build Back Better Grants on May 10, one for $1,000 and one for $3,000, to help the Center purchase new refrigerators for the Daybreak Shelter and Pegusus House.
The Psychological Center, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, provides programming to those with substance abuse disorders, those who are mentally ill, and the homeless.
The Center cares for individuals through three programs dedicated to addiction and recovery services: Pegasus House, Women’s View, and the Daybreak Shelter. The programs focus on improving mental health and recovery from substance abuse disorders, which help individuals gain the skills necessary to reintegrate back into the community and live better lives.
