LOWELL — The Lowell Police Department is seeking active Civil Service police officers interested in transferring to five open positions in Lowell.

Only full-time, permanent, Civil Service police officers from Massachusetts are eligible for transfer under the provisions of Chapter 31, Section 35 of the Massachusetts General Laws. All candidates seeking transfer to the Lowell Police Department will be required to successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation, medical and psychological examination, and be able to pass certification under the Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Commission.

Salary is based on years worked within Civil Service. LPD offers the full Quinn Bill educational incentive. Additional benefits include 13 paid holidays per year, vacation and personal time, physical fitness incentive, and shift differential.

“We are looking for individuals who have already begun their careers in law enforcement and who are dedicated to problem-solving in a community-oriented police department,” said Acting Superintendent Barry Golner. “The Lowell Police Department is the largest municipal police department in the Commonwealth to earn MPAC accreditation, and we are hoping to recruit five professional, compassionate, and skilled officers to join our community and team.”

Candidates seeking a transfer to the Lowell Police Department must submit a letter of interest, a current resume, and a signed letter from the Chief of Police from their current department authorizing participation in this process. Please send all documentation to policerecruiting@lowellma.gov.

Any questions relative to this process should be directed to Capt. David Peaslee at 978-674-1907 or dpeaslee@lowellma.gov.

The Lowell Police Department is an equal opportunity employer.
