COHASSET — Town Manager Christopher Senior and Cohasset Recreation Director Ted Carroll are pleased to announce the return of instructional tennis and pickleball programs this summer.
Cohasset High School Boys Varsity Tennis Coach Jeff Grossman will be teaching instructional tennis and pickleball programs this summer for residents. Grossman is credited with coaching the 2022 Cohasset High School Boys Varsity team that was a Conference Champion and State Semi-Finalist this year.
“We’re excited for this opportunity to once again offer tennis and pickleball clinics to our community members this summer under the direction and expertise of Coach Grossman,” Director Carroll said. “We encourage those looking to pick up these sports or hone their skills to sign up for the clinics.”
Instructional tennis and pickleball are available from now until Aug. 12, Monday through Friday between 9 am. and 6 p.m. at the Milliken – Bancroft Field.
Individual tennis lessons begin at $20 per person for a 30-minute lesson. Two students will be 40-minute lessons and three students will be 50-minute lessons.
Doubles clinics consisting of a two-hour lesson with four players will be available at $20 per person. The clinics will prepare students for Varsity Doubles and the content of the clinic will focus on:
- Creating a return of Serve Weapon
- The Serve in Doubles plus one shot
- Netplay, poaching at net, overheads, and put-aways
- Team defense, team switching, handling the lob, situational point play
Also available this summer are adult beginner pickleball clinics. The clinics run for 30 minutes and allow for four to eight players at a time. The cost will be $20 per person. As part of the clinics, players will learn basic strokes from a technical and tactical point. Scoring, rules and positioning will also be covered.
