MILTON — Pastor Fr. Eric Bennett and the St. Mary of the Hills School Board are pleased to announce that Suzanne Banach has accepted the position of principal for the school.
Banach, who has been a middle school history teacher and academic guidance counselor at St. Mary of the Hills School since 2015, took over in her new role effective July 1.
Banach takes over for outgoing St. Mary of the Hills principal Julie Marotta, who announced her retirement last fall. Once Marotta announced her retirement the school immediately began a search for a new principal.
“Mrs. Marotta’s tireless commitment to the St. Mary of the Hills community over the past six years required a thorough search in collaboration with the Catholic Schools office, members of the school board, faculty, staff and other members of the school community,” said Fr. Eric Bennett, Pastor of St. Mary of the Hills. “We are very excited to announce Mrs. Banach as our next principal, who already knows the school community well and has shown to be a true advocate for our school and for the values and virtues of Catholic education. We look forward to her leading our school going forward with her unique passion and dedication.”
Banach holds a Master of Education in Special Education from Fresno Pacific University, and has taught in both public and private schools during her career. She has a special love for Catholic Education and believes strongly in sharing her faith with her students.
“One of the most important things that I talk about with my students is that God has created each one of them with a purpose to do good things with the gifts that He has blessed them with,” Banach said. “My educational philosophy of working with all students to develop their best academic potential, regardless of current achievement, exemplifies the mission of St. Mary of the Hills School and I am so excited to be starting this new role to use my background and experiences to best help our students grow not only educationally but personally.”
St. Mary of the Hills extends appreciation to the members of the search committee who provided valuable and thoughtful insight during the new principal selection process.
