Hampton Academy Congratulates Student Athletes On Performance At State Championship Track Meet

HAMPTON — Superintendent Dr. Lois Costa and Interim Principal Kennith Hawkins wish to congratulate Hampton Academy student athletes on their performance at the state track championship earlier this month.

HAMPTON — Superintendent Dr. Lois Costa and Interim Principal Kennith Hawkins wish to congratulate Hampton Academy student athletes on their performance at the state track championship earlier this month.

On June 7, students from the boys and girls track team competed in the state track championship at Manchester Memorial High School alongside 60 schools. In order to attend the state meet, athletes had to finish in the top two of their regional league championship meet.

“Congratulations to our middle schoolers and our dedicated coaches on an exceptional track season,” Superintendent Costa said. “They have achieved so much from personal bests to school records to winning the boys regional championship. They should be so proud of all that they have accomplished.”

Eighth grader Ryan Jamison and seventh graders Nathan Dillion, Derek Finnegan, Sheamus Rafferty, Ethan Roy, and Spencer Zigler represented the boys team.

The boys team placed in the following races: 

100-Meter Hurdle

  • Jamison placed second
  • Zigler placed eighth. He was the top placing seventh-grader.

400-Meter Race: 

  • Dillon placed twelfth with a personal best of 59.74 

High Jump

  • Finnegan placed fourth. He was the top placing seventh grader with a jump of 5’02”

Discus

  • Rafferty placed ninth. He was top placing seventh grader and set a personal best throw of 95’06”

Shotput: 

  • Finnegan placed twelfth

4×200-Meter Relay Race

  • Roy, Zigler, Dillion, and Jamison placed fifth with a time of 1:54.29

“As coaches, we have witnessed tremendous growth in all of our athletes over the course of the season,” Coach Pamela Thompson. “We were so impressed by the hard work and dedication that they put into each of their races. Congratulations to all of our students.”

Eighth graders Taylor Burness and Moxie Clifford, and seventh graders Julia Bryan, Sydney Heestand, and Ayden Perigny represented the girls team.

The girls teams placed in the following races:

100-Meter Hurdle

  • Burness placed sixth

400-Meter Race: 

  • Clifford placed twelfth with a personal best of 67.8

Shotput: 

  • Perigny placed eleventh

4×200-Meter Relay Race

  • Bryan, Heetstand, Burness, and Clifford placed third. The team achieved a new girls team school record with a time of 2:02.16
