Gloucester Fire Department Responds to Two-Alarm Fire

GLOUCESTER —  Fire Chief Eric Smith reports that the Gloucester Fire Department responded to a two-alarm fire on Monday morning

On Monday, June 20, at about 3:08 a.m., Gloucester Fire was dispatched to 33 School St. for reports of a fire. Responders arrived to discover fire and smoke coming from the side and rear of a 2 1/2-story wood frame house. A second alarm was struck immediately due to the severity of the conditions.

Crews brought the fire under control within 30 minutes.of their arrival.

All occupants had exited the home. Two firefighters and two occupants were transported by Beauport Ambulance Service to area hospitals for treatment.

Responding were Engine 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Engine 4, Ladder 1, Car 3, Rescus 1 and Rescue 2.

Mutual aid was provided by the Essex, Manchester-by-the-Sea, and Rockport Fire Departments. Station coverage was provided by the Beverly, Rockport, and Manchester-by-the-Sea Fire Departments.

Crews remain on scene as of 8 a.m.

Chief Smith thanks the Department’s mutual aid responders and Rehab Five for providing rehabilitation services on scene.
