TAUNTON — Superintendent John Cabral and Athletic Director Mark Ottavianelli are pleased to announce that Danny Borges has been chosen as the next head coach of Taunton High School girls soccer.
Borges currently serves as the Director of Coaching for the Taunton Youth Soccer League, a position he’s held since 2017. In this role, he organizes and oversees all aspects of the player/coaching development of the spring and fall programs. He also introduced and continues to develop strategies for the summer and winter programs, including securing fields and training locations, camps and tournaments.
He also currently serves as the Director of Coaching for the New England Navigators, a premier youth soccer club serving boys and girls throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island that he began alongside Nelson Almada. As the Director of Coaching, Borges is responsible for the overall development of the club’s game model. He is also in charge of overseeing and directing the coaching staff in the implementation of the playing style and philosophy. He also develops the player development curriculum for the age groups U8 through U18.
Borges has also served as the Coyle & Cassidy High School head coach for boys soccer from 1983-2016, the Taunton Eagles Soccer Club head coach from 1992-2000 and again from 2002-2013, and the Taunton Sports Club assistant coach since 1989.
“Danny has an extremely impressive coaching history that truly shows his dedication to soccer programs throughout our region,” Director Ottavianelli said. “We greatly look forward to him bringing his coaching expertise to our girls soccer program.”
Borges has numerous coaching certifications, including his United States Soccer Federation National C License, National Soccer Coaches Association National Diploma, United Soccer Coaches National Director of Coaching Diploma, Portuguese Football Association Certificate, and La Liga Spanish Football Association Level 3 Diploma.
