CANAAN – Superintendent Amanda Isabelle is pleased to announce that a new leadership team has been selected for Mascoma Valley Regional High School for the 2022-2023 school year.
Tina Fleming, currently Interim Principal at Indian River School, will serve as Principal. Rick Simula, a case manager in the Special Education Department, will serve as Assistant Principal.
Fleming began her educational career as a Reading Specialist in the Laconia School District, advancing to positions of increasing responsibility. She joined the Mascoma Valley Regional School District in 2019, serving as Associate Principal at Indian River School in the 2020-2021 school year, and Interim Principal in the current school year.
Fleming holds a bachelor’s degree in General Studies, a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Reading, and a master’s degree in Educational Studies-Leadership, all from Southern New Hampshire University.
She is active in her community, having served as a coach and board member in youth sports. She currently serves as a member of the Budget Committee in the Town of Belmont.
“I am thrilled to continue my time in Mascoma. We have an amazing staff, supportive community, and beautiful building. The opportunity to be a part of a student’s educational journey to graduation is very exciting,” Fleming said. “I am very thankful for my time at Indian River School but very excited to be teamed up with Rick to lead the Royals of MVRHS next school year.”
Simula holds a bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Plymouth State University, and a master’s degree in Special Education from Simmons College.
Simula started his educational career as a tutor and Expressive Language Arts teacher for students with learning challenges, at private and public schools in Massachusetts. He joined the District as a Special Education Case Manager in 2013, developing Individualized Education Program goals, and providing services and support to students.
He also founded the wrestling programs at Indian River and the High School, which has produced several New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association state champions, including three this season. He will continue as Varsity Wrestling Coach.
“I am excited to work with Tina and the rest of the administrative team,” Simula said. “I believe that my rapport with students, positive attitude and consistency will be a great fit for my new administrative position.”
“Congratulations to both Tina and Rick. I look forward to collaborating with them closely next year,” Superintendent Isabelle said. “They will bring a strong and dynamic outlook to the High School, and their dedication and leadership will help propel our students and District forward.”
