HAMPTON — Superintendent Dr. Lois Costa and Interim Principal Kenneth Hawkins are proud to share that Hampton Academy student-athletes excelled at the regional track championship last week.
The boys track team became regional champions at the Seacoast Middle School Track & Field League’s championship meet at Exeter High School on Wednesday, June 1. The team scored a total of 100 points.
The boys team includes sixth graders Curren Tabor, Dylan Zumbach, Kaiden Sharpe, and Viktor Kulberg, seventh graders Brayden Sullivan, Bryan Eusebio, Connor Kelly, Derek Finnegan, Ethan Roy, Nathan Dillon, Nick DePippo, Sheamus Rafferty and Spencer Zigler, and eighth graders Colton Woods and Ryan Jamison.
The boys team placed in the following races:
75-Meter Hurdle
- Jamison placed first
- Zigler placed second
200-Meter Race
- Jamison placed third
400-Meter Race
- Dillon placed first
- Tabor placed fourth
800-Meter Race
- Roy placed third
- Zigler placed fourth
- Eusebio placed fifth
1,600-Meter Race
- Roy placed fourth
Shot Put
- Finnegan placed first
Discus
- Rafferty placed first
High Jump
- Finnegan placed second
- Dillon placed fifth
4×100-Meter Relay Race
- Tabor, Sullivan, Eusebio and Woods placed third
4×200-Meter Relay Race
- Rafferty, Dillon, Zigler and Jamison placed first
The girls team also performed exceptionally well, winning second place in their division. The team scored 57 points.
The girls team includes sixth graders Rheya Ryan, Kelly Curtin and Sofia Parisi, seventh graders Ayden Perigny, Emily Pitfick, Hannah Edgar, Jula Kelly, Julia Bryan, Lola Grote, Maeve Ouellette, Molly Houlihan, Norah Fleming, Sydney Heestand, and eighth graders Abby Lord, Kaitlin Merrill, Moxie Clifford and Taylor Burness.

- Grote placed sixth
4×100-Meter Relay Race
- The team of Ouellette, Kelly, Fleming, and Houlihan placed fourth
4×200-Meter Relay Race
- The team of Bryan, Heestand, Burness, and Clifford placed first
Students competed against Cooperative Middle School, Portsmouth Middle School, Greenland Central School, Rye Middle School, North Hampton School, Hampton Falls (Lincoln Akerman), Seabrook Middle School, South Hampton Barnard School, Fremont (Ellis) School, Portsmouth Christian Academy, Heronfield Academy, Saint Patrick’s School, and Cornerstone School.
“We are overjoyed at the amount of students that qualified to compete at the state-wide meet,” Coach Pamela Thompson said.
Added Coach Mike Muldoon: “They have dedicated countless hours to get to this point and we are so proud of all of the students’ hard work and accomplishments.”
Burness, Clifford, Jamison, Finnegan, Perigny, Bryan, Heestand, Roy, Dillon, Zigler and Rafferty will compete at the State Championship on Tuesday, June 7, at Memorial High School in Manchester.
“Congratulations to both our boys and girls teams on their wins. Their hard work and dedication really shined not only at this meet, but throughout the season,” Superintendent Costa said. “On behalf of the Hampton School District, I wish them luck at the state meet.”
