PETERBOROUGH – Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders wishes to share an update with the community after a threatening post was identified on social media last week.
Following an investigation by the Peterborough Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the individual responsible for a post containing a potential threat against ConVal High School has been identified. As a result of that work, the potential threat has been deemed not credible by police.
ConVal officials were notified June 1 by parents, staff and students of a potential threat directed toward the high school that was posted online. The District immediately engaged with the Peterborough Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which continue to investigate. Out of an abundance of caution, police also had an increased presence at all ConVal Schools on June 1.
“I am grateful for the cooperative work of the Peterborough Police Department and FBI on this matter, and relieved to know that the individual has been identified. Still, any instance where threatening language is used is one that merits our serious consideration, as was the case in this instance,” Rizzo Saunders said. “Numerous members of the ConVal community were proactive in bringing this incident to our attention, which allowed for critical work to be done to address it quickly and ensure the continued safety of our students and staff.”
