DRACUT — Chief Peter Bartlett and the Dracut Police Department are requesting the public’s help with ongoing investigations into a smash and grab burglary at a liquor store, as well as an attempted robbery at Heav’nly Donuts.
At approximately 5:36 a.m., Dracut Police were called to Heav’nly Donuts, 592 Merrimack Ave., for a report of an attempted robbery. Additionally, at 5:04 a.m., Dracut Police responded to Muldoon Liquors, 312 Pleasant St., for a report of a burglary at that location. Through an on-scene investigation, Dracut Police learned that an unknown suspect allegedly smashed a front glass door and stole lottery tickets.
Upon arrival at Heav’nly Donuts, officers learned that a man walked in and handed a note to staff indicating that he had a weapon.
The suspect then attempted to take the cash register but was unsuccessful, and was believed to have subsequently fled the scene on foot. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
There were no injuries as a result of either incident and the investigations into both remain active and ongoing.
The suspect is described as a white male wearing shorts and flip flops.
Lowell Police also responded to the scene. Dracut Police are aware that Lowell, Pelham and Windham Police are investigating similar incidents in their communities.
Any possible connection between the incident in Dracut and these other incidents remains under investigation at this time.
