TAUNTON — Chief Edward J. Walsh reports that the Taunton Police Department is investigating a suspected hoax call Thursday morning.

There is no active threat to the community at this time.

At approximately 9:05 a.m., Taunton Police received a call for a possible barricaded subject in a home on Hart St. reporting that people in the home had been harmed.

Taunton Police quickly responded to the scene and established a perimeter.

Upon further investigation and making contact with the homeowner, it was determined that no one was inside the home.

Police searched the home with permission from the homeowner and did not locate anyone inside or any signs of violence. The scene was cleared a short time later and the call was determined to be a hoax.

Out of an abundance of caution, Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School was ordered to shelter in place while the scene was still active. School operations continued as normal during that time and the order was lifted after police cleared the scene.

Through the subsequent investigation, police determined that call came from out of state. The investigation remains ongoing.
