NEW LONDON — Superintendent Winfried Feneberg is pleased to announce Kearsarge Regional High School’s May Student of the Month.
Francie Reid, a freshman from Warner, was selected for the honor based on nominations from school staff. The faculty who nominated Reid described her as having a very solid work ethic, a dedication to learning, a willingness to collaborate with peers, and her kindness.
“I appreciate how Francie always takes a genuine interest in getting to know her peers and the Kearsarge faculty,” said Assistant Principal Laura Newman.
Students of the Month are nominated and selected by faculty in recognition of their positive conduct and character, both on and off campus. The honor is an acknowledgement of an individual’s positive moral character and contributions to the school community.
“Francie is a well-rounded student. She works hard and participates in clubs and theater. I would say she is the ideal embodiment of outstanding character,” said School Counselor Nicole Tenney. “During a Project CLIMB trip this fall, Francie was the student heading to the back and checking in with everyone. She asked genuine questions of people to get to know them. She is always smiling and welcoming!”
Reid appreciates the kindness from her teachers and the help that they have provided her throughout the year. “The teachers have really helped me this year, and they’ve been really patient, helpful, flexible, and kind.”
Reid participates in the school chorus, the drama program, and Project CLIMB. Outside of school she participates in dance and has a part-time job.
As a first-year student, she is not certain what she will pursue after high school, though she has considered becoming a middle school history teacher or an activities director for a nursing home. She also wants to remain involved in community theater.
