EASTON — Chief Justin Alexander would like to recognize the Easton Fire Department’s emergency medical personnel this week as part of National EMS Week.
President Gerald Ford authorized the first National EMS Week in 1974, to celebrate medical first responders. The COVID-19 global health pandemic has only reinforced the important role that emergency medical personnel play across the nation.
This year, National EMS Week is May 15-21.
The Easton Fire Department responds to approximately 2,700 ambulance-related calls per year, more than half of the emergency calls to which the department responds.
“I am pleased to recognize our department’s emergency medical personnel this week for the professional, compassionate and lifesaving care they continuously provide to the Town of Easton,” Chief Alexander said. “The value of their work and their dedication to their community was all the more evident during the COVID-19 pandemic, and I would like to thank them for their commitment to the wellbeing of Easton’s residents.”
