MELROSE — The Melrose Police Department would like to advise residents that a charity motorcycle ride benefiting wounded veterans will fill some city streets with motorcycles for a brief time on Sunday.

On Sunday, May 22, the 11th-annual Boston Wounded Vets Run will include hundreds of motorcycle riders traveling together from Boston Harley-Davidson in Revere, to Anthony’s of Malden, passing through Melrose en route.

The ride will leave Revere at 1 p.m., and is expected to pass through Melrose between 1:20 and 1:35 p.m. The route through Melrose will take motorcycle riders southbound on Main Street, turning westbound on the Lynn Fells Parkway and then into Stoneham.

“The Melrose Police Department will be out to help direct traffic as this important charity ride makes its way through Melrose, and we wish the best to all of those who are raising funds for four local wounded veterans,” said Chief Lyle. “I encourage motorists to drive cautiously, and to please be patient as this benefit run passes through our city.”

“I’m beyond thrilled to see this event returning to Melrose,” said Mayor Paul Brodeur. “On behalf of the entire City of Melrose, we are truly honored to be a part of the Boston Wounded Vets Run, an incredible initiative that enhances the quality of life for America’s heroes – our veterans.”
