ARLINGTON — Armstrong Ambulance Service is observing National Nurses Week by calling out a nurse-led effort to support Ukraine as it endures Russia’s ongoing invasion.
As an expression of gratitude for the numerous nurses with whom Armstrong’s first responders work each day, the organization will be making a sizeable donation to the International Council of Nurses’ Humanitarian Fund in their honor. ICN’s Humanitarian Fund provides direct aid to nurses serving in disaster areas, and its current campaign — #NursesforPeace — is actively working to support those working in Ukraine.
“Nurses have always been on the front lines, as we have been reminded over the last two years as the world been confronted by COVID-19, or now as nurses are stepping up to care for those in need in the fight against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine,” CEO Rich Raymond said. “We hope this small gesture on behalf of our nurse partners will have an impact on the nurses who are so courageously working to help in eastern Europe.”
May 6-12 is designated by the American Nurses Association as National Nurses Week in order to honor nurses for their contributions across the country by providing a variety of clinical care and support to patients.
