MEDWAY — Superintendent Armand Pires is pleased to announce that 14 pieces of student art will be added to the Medway Public Schools Permanent Art Collection.

The permanent collection is housed in the Superintendent’s corridor at Medway Middle School. New pieces have been added to the gallery each year since the collection began five years ago.

This year, the following students’ work was selected:

  • Miles Johnson, pre-K, with “BD the Bee”
  • Aliviah Santucci, kindergarten, with “Beautiful World”
  • Hope Milligan, first grade, with “Fridge Food”
  • Ryan Eustis, second grade, with “Color Master”
  • Samuel Haan, third grade, with “Rhythm Room”
  • Siena Herbert, fourth grade, with “Gyotaku”
  • Gabriella Bien-Aime, fifth grade, with “Speaking Feelings”
  • Penelope Budde, sixth grade, with “Untitled”
  • Logan Podzka, seventh grade, with “Moto’s Masterpiece”
  • Kimora, eighth grade, with “Untitled”
  • Sasha McNaney, ninth grade, with “Headn’ West”
  • Natalie Goodale, 10th grade, with “Constricted”
  • Amelia Bonarrigo, 11th grade, with “A Day on Messer Pond”
  • Noelyn Campbell, 12th grade, with “Untitled”

The pieces were selected by teachers based on criteria of: excellent achievement or demonstration of skills, good craftsmanship/high quality example of student work, and exemplary effort and motivation by the student.

The students and their work were honored at the fifth annual Permanent Art Gallery Viewing on Thursday, April 28. During the event, each student’s piece was on display and family members, district staff and other invited guests were able to view the works of art and ask each artist about their piece and what inspired them, what they learned while creating the piece and more.

“Congratulations to the 14 students whose artistic works were selected for the gallery this year,” Superintendent Pires said. “The Permanent Art Collection is a wonderful display that welcomes visitors and carries on the legacies of our students, and we look forward to seeing the new pieces each year.”

The Permanent Art Collection began five years ago with funding help from the Medway Foundation for Education.
