MANSFIELD — Superintendent Teresa Murphy is pleased to announce that Mansfield High School has earned a spot on the list of the 2022 U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools.

Mansfield High School placed 51 of 365 Massachusetts high schools and 1,306 among the national rankings. The school received an overall score of 92.68/100. Schools ranked in the top 40% nationally achieve status as a U.S. News Best High School.

Ranked by 2022 U.S. News & World Report, the Best High Schools Report ranks nearly 18,000 high schools in the nation and provides school-specific data on enrollment, graduation rates, student body demographics, location, school type and results of state assessments as well as Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate tests.

“We take pride in our ability to offer a variety of courses and extracurricular opportunities at Mansfield High School that allow students to follow their interests and prepare them for their futures after they leave our district,” Superintendent Murphy said. “This ranking would not be possible without our educators and administrators, and I thank them for their dedication and efforts. The same can be said for our talented students and their families, and we share this recognition with them as well.”

Schools are ranked based on six factors:

  • College Readiness
  • College Curriculum Breadth
  • Math and Reading Proficiency

  • Graduation Rate

Out of all Massachusetts’ ranked schools, MHS ranked 62 in College Readiness, 77 in College Curriculum Breadth, 53 in Math and Reading Proficiency, 87 in Math and Reading Performance and 97 in Graduation Rate.

According to U.S. News data, approximately 58% of Mansfield High School’s students participate in Advanced Placement coursework and exams and the graduation rate is 98%.

Students choose from a number of courses in the subjects of English; Social Studies; Math; Science; World Language; Wellness; Visual, Performing, and/or Industrial Arts; and Computers or Technology, many of which are available at Honors, Advanced Placement and College Preparatory levels.

To expand on their interests outside of the classroom, students can be involved in many different clubs, music and performing arts activities and athletic programs.
