SUDBURY – The Goodnow Library is pleased to announce that it has purchased 12 ukuleles to expand programming to the community.
The colorful Kala Soprano Ukuleles are part of the Library’s circulating collection. The Library also launched “Uke Can Do It: Learn to Play Ukulele,” with two classes for children in Grades 2-5 during April school vacation.
The program is being led by Head of Children’s Services Amy Stimac.
“Miss Amy wanted to share her love for playing the ukulele with the community and decided to launch this program,” Library Director Esmé Green said. “The first classes were very successful, so we hope to expand these classes to teens and adults in the future.”
The Library also plans to host ukulele sing-along programs, where people can bring their own instrument or reserve one from the Library.
The next “Uke Can Do It” class for students in Grades 2-5 is scheduled for Tuesday, May 10, from 4-4:45 p.m. Sessions are limited to 12 participants. Parents may register their child here. Elementary-age programs are mask-friendly.
