Multi-Purpose Field at Field of Dreams to be Renamed Faille Field
PLAINVILLE — The Plainville Park Department would like to invite community members to attend a dedication ceremony at the Field of Dreams in honor of the late James “Jim” Faille.
WHEN:
Sunday, May 15 beginning at 1 p.m.
WHERE:
Field of Dreams, 80 School St.
WHAT:
The Plainville Park Commissioners, alongside several former park commissioners, will host a field dedication and naming ceremony at the former multi-purpose field on School Street, which will be renamed the Faille Field in honor of the late Jim Faille.
The field dedication at the Field of Dreams complex is to honor Faille’s service, dedication and contributions to the Town of Plainville, Plainville Park Department and the community in which he lived and worked.
“Jim always cared about the Park Department programs and truly cared about the children in this town having activities and programs for everyone to participate in,” said former Park Director Maureen Dunphy.
Faille, a former Park Commissioner from 1996 to 2003, often donated to the Plainville Park Department throughout the years. His donations included a new Flag Pole with solar panel lights at the field on School Street and the installation of the flag pole. He also always assisted with any electrical issues at the town park and town pool.
Most recently, Telford Park was festooned with holiday lighting thanks to efforts of Faille’s company, Faille Electric, and his family.
He also served as the Town Wiring Inspector for many years and volunteered as a coach for both the Plainville Athletic League and Plainville Youth Soccer League for numerous teams throughout the years.
“His dedication, service, hard work, volunteering and donations were second to none, and Jim will be deeply missed by everyone,” said Park Director John Teiner.
In his honor, the Town has also set up the James Faille Memorial Fund to support the town’s holiday lighting in the future. Donations will be used to supplement the costs of lighting the Telford Park in coming years for the annual Tree lighting and also for other memorial services/events in honor of Faille. To date, the Town of Plainville has already received over $2,800 in donations to the fund.
“The Faille Family would like to extend invitations to anyone to stay after the field dedication ceremony for Jim’s celebration of life,” said Tricia Faille, the wife of late- Mr. Faille.
At the ceremony, Board of Selectmen Chair Brian Kelly, Director Teiner and former park commissioners will provide remarks. Faille’s grandchildren, James, Olivia and Tatum, will throw out the first pitch. The National Anthem will be sung by Cindy Tuminelli.
