NEW LONDON —  Superintendent Winfried Feneberg and Band Director Sean Anderson are pleased to share that a Kearsarge Regional High School student was selected to perform at the New Hampshire All-State Music Festival.

Violinist Oliver Andrews, a sophomore from Andover, auditioned for the Festival in November. He qualified for the All-State Orchestra, scoring sixth in the state. The Orchestra performed at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord on April 9 during Festival Weekend.

This is the second year in a row Andrews has qualified for the Festival.

Andrews began studying the violin when he was 3 years old. He is immersed in the arts both within the High School and region. He regularly performs in music competitions and in plays, and was the High School’s Poetry Out Loud champion in 2021.

At age 12, he performed in a string ensemble from the Upper Valley Music Center that played at the inauguration of Gov. Chris Sununu.

The Festival is organized by the New Hampshire Music Educators Association, a state association of the National Association for Music Education. NHMEA promotes the development of music educators and the advancement of all forms of music creation, performance, and literacy.

“The All-State Music Festival showcases the best high school musicians in New Hampshire, and performing in it as a freshman and sophomore is a special accomplishment,” Superintendent Feneberg said. “Congratulations to Oliver, and to all in our Music Department who have worked so hard to support our students in the performing arts.”
