WHITMAN — Superintendent Jeffrey Szymaniak and Principal Paul Duprey are pleased to announce that Whitman Middle School student Madison Bates was recently named a winner of the Massachusetts School Administrators Association’s (MSAA) “Back to the Future” student art contest.
This year the MSAA’s Assistant Principal Committee decided to run a student art contest to help design the logo for the Assistant Principal Conference, which was held on April 4.
The “Back to the Future” theme was chosen to highlight the need to “get back” to the learning environment students knew before COVID-19.
“It has been a tough two years for everyone, especially the students, and it is amazing to see students reflect on pre-COVID classrooms through art,” said MSAA Assistant Principal Liaison Larry Murphy.
Winners were chosen at the elementary, middle and high school levels, and had 30 submissions for the middle school alone. Bates’ art was on display at the Assistant Principals Conference and will be mentioned in MSAA Matters, a newsletter sent out to MSAA members.
“We are thrilled that Madison has won the MSAA ‘Back to the Future Art Contest,’” said Principal Duprey. “She is a dedicated and talented student, and we all congratulate her on her latest achievement.”
