ROCKPORT — Chief John Horvath is pleased to announce that the Rockport Police Department is showing its support for the autism community throughout the month of April.
All April, members of the Rockport Police Department will be marking Autism Acceptance Month by wearing a special-issue blue badge meant to raise awareness and show their support for autism acceptance and awareness.
Supervisors and officers in the department have committed to raising at least $200 this month, with all proceeds directly benefitting the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism.
“We are proud to show our support for those in our community and beyond whose lives have been touched by autism, and are committed to fostering a culture of acceptance and inclusion in Rockport,” Chief Horvath said. “I want to thank all of our members who are participating by raising awareness and pledging their support to a worthy cause.”
