TAUNTON — Superintendent John Cabral and Executive Director of Human Resources Dr. Cheryl Butts announce that the Taunton Public Schools is actively seeking qualified candidates for numerous open positions.
There are currently several vacancies for daily positions for substitute teachers at all of the district’s schools, educational assistant positions and custodians.

Substitute Teachers
As a substitute teacher, applicants will be responsible for ensuring continuity of students’ learning in the absence of their teacher. All applicants must have at least two years of a college education. Preference will be given to college graduates and students currently enrolled in college.
Requirements for those interested in this position include attendance at a Substitute Teacher Orientation and an interview with the Human Resource Manager or designee.

Educational Assistant
An educational assistant will be responsible for helping pupils use programmed materials and equipment; assisting in the correcting of achievement, diagnostic, and/or attitude scales; working with small groups of students on special projects and assisting the teacher with activities deemed necessary for the success of the project.
Applicants must have the minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent with preferential consideration for those with some college training. Ideal candidates also have a minimum experience of one year working with children in a recognized recreational, education, health, community, or social service program for children.
Custodian
Custodial responsibilities include, but are not limited to, monitoring the progress of building repairs to their assigned area as they are completed and promptly notifying the Senior Custodian and Building Principal of any problems or any other building maintenance needs that arise in their building. They will also assist and perform work required with all crisis management plans for the building, and assume such additional responsibilities as requested by supervisors.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and at least two years of experience in the custodial/maintenance field. They must also be able to lift up to thirty pounds.
