NEWBURYPORT — City Marshal Mark Murray and Fire Chief Christopher LeClaire report that the Newburyport Police and Fire Departments responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on Route 1 Wednesday night.
At approximately 7:30 p.m., a 911 caller reported that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Route 1 near Hill Street.
Police and Firefighters responded to find a 25-year-old male suffering from serious injuries after being struck by a 2017 Acura RDX.
That male was transported to a Boston hospital by a medical helicopter.
The driver of the Acura RDX remained at the scene.
The incident is under investigation by the Newburyport Police Department with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
