LITTLETON — Police Chief Matthew Pinard and Interim Fire Chief Michael Howard report that the Littleton Police and Fire Departments responded to a crash that led to the closure of Route 119 on Wednesday morning.
On Wednesday, March 30, at approximately 7:30 a.m., the Littleton Police and Fire Departments responded to a report of a three-vehicle crash on Route 119, just east of Lawrence Street.
Based on a preliminary investigation, it appears that a Jeep Grand Cherokee that was travelling East on Route 119 crossed over the center line and struck a westbound Acura sedan. A third vehicle, a commercial box truck that was travelling West, was unable to stop and struck the Jeep as well.
Littleton Firefighters made extensive efforts to extricate the drivers of both vehicles.
The driver of the Jeep was taken by MedFlight to Lahey Hospital and Medical Center. The driver of the Acura was taken by Littleton EMS ambulance Lahey Hospital and Medical Center. There were no other reported injuries.
Route 119 was closed in the area.
Littleton Police and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section are investigating the crash.
Westford Fire Department EMS, Groton Police, the Littleton Highway Department and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation provided assistance at the scene.
