Blue Bulbs Available Now at Police Headquarters on Fagan Drive
AVON – Chief Jeffery Bukunt is pleased to announce the Avon Police Department’s participation in the international “Light It Up Blue” Campaign.
April 2 marks World Autism Awareness Day, and in an effort to recognize the millions of individuals affected by this condition, Avon Police will be providing blue light bulbs to any resident who wishes to participate. Blue is the official color for autism awareness, and the bulbs are a way for residents to show their support.
Countless iconic landmarks, communities, businesses and homes around the world will come together and shine a blue light to draw attention to WAAD this year. Avon Police encourage community members to join the cause.
Blue bulbs as part of the effort were graciously purchased by the Avon Police Relief Association, and residents can pick them up, free of charge, from the Avon Police headquarters at 86 Fagan Drive and install them outside their home or business.
Bulbs are available now. Due to limited quantities, Avon residents and business owners will be given first priority.
As part of the effort, Avon Police ask that participants share a photo of their blue lights on April 2 to a special post that will be made that day on the Avon Police Facebook page.
“We are proud to show support for such a worthy cause,” Chief Bukunt said. “Building a community that celebrates differences among its members is a top priority of the Avon Police and the Town of Avon, and we look forward to showing our support for World Autism Awareness Day along with our residents and business owners.”
