TAUNTON — Superintendent-Director Dr. Alexandre Magalhaes and DECA Advisor Jennifer Karamanian are pleased to announce that Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School brought 26 students to the Massachusetts DECA State Career Development Conference earlier this month.
The conference was held March 10-12 in Boston. B-P DECA students had a very successful showing, and enjoyed competing, networking and participating in professional seminars with DECA members from their peers in other districts.
B-P had seven State winners who are now moving on to compete at the International Career Development conference in Atlanta from April 23-26. Four additional students earned leadership spots to attend seminars to learn, share and grow their own knowledge and that of their chapter members.
These students have raised money for many charities through the organization, including; the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Cure Rare Disease, Mental Health America and The National Alliance to End Homelessness. They have held many fundraisers for their chapter as well.
“DECA is an exceptional organization and opportunity for not only Business & Marketing students, but for all of our technical students to learn about and compete in marketing, finance, accounting, entrepreneurship, hospitality/tourism and financial literacy events,” Advisor Karamanian said. “We have students from many technical programs who join and compete in various categories, including automotive, retail, hotel and lodging, personal finance and so many more. Technical students from all areas can benefit from gaining the valuable business experience DECA offers.”
