CHELMSFORD — Chief James M. Spinney reports that the Chelmsford Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect in an unarmed robbery today.
At approximately 4:10 p.m., Chelmsford Police were called to Eastern Bank, located at 291 Chelmsford St., for a report of a robbery.
Upon arrival, bank staff told police that a man walked in and verbally demanded cash from a teller.
The man then fled the area on foot down nearby Glen Avenue towards Katrina Drive with an undisclosed amount of money.
Officers searched the area but did not locate the suspect.
The suspect is described as a heavyset male who was wearing a black neck gaiter, a green and white Boston Celtics knit winter hat, brown jacket, black pants and red shoes.
No injuries were reported in the incident and the investigation remains active and ongoing.
Chelmsford Police are asking anyone who knows the identity of the suspect or has information about this incident to call 978-256-2521, ext. 0 and ask for Detective Sergeant Carlo.
