MANSFIELD — Superintendent Teresa Murphy and Principal John Nieratko are pleased to report that the Jordan/Jackson Elementary School’s fifth grade musical will be held this coming weekend.

This year’s production, “The Big Bad Musical,” is a courtroom drama in which the jury — the audience — must decide the outcome of a trial against the Big Bad Wolf. Many familiar fairy tale characters are featured, including Little Red Riding Hood, her Grandmother, the Three Little Pigs, the Shepherd in charge of the Boy Who Cried Wolf, and more.

This is the first musical for the school since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Jordan/Jackson drama students rehearsed for their 2020 show but missed performing it by just a few days before schools went remote.

For longtime Jordan/Jackson music teacher Jaime Steinbach, this show is a special one after having navigated the pandemic with her students the past few years. “This marks my 25th year teaching at Jordan/Jackson, and it has been a delight to bring back the fifth grade musical after its short hiatus,” she said. “I am blessed to have the opportunity to work with these talented children. It is a pleasure and a privilege to work with each student and watch them create and grow.”

The show runs approximately 90 minutes, including an intermission.

“Live events were one of the things we missed most during the pandemic, and we’re so thrilled that our fifth grade musical is one of the first performances to return for our entire school to enjoy,” Principal Nieratko said. “Our students have worked so hard on this show and we all look forward to seeing them hit the stage this weekend. We invite the entire Mansfield community to come see the show and support our students.”
