EAST BRIDGEWATER — The East Bridgewater Board of Selectmen are pleased to announce a bid has been awarded for Animal Control/Animal Inspector services in town.

At their March 14 meeting the Board awarded a bid for combined Animal Control/Animal Inspector services to Ed Gannon of East Bridgewater-based Precision Wildlife Services.

As part of their role, Precision Wildlife Services will manage all of the animal control/inspector duties in the Town of East Bridgewater. Services will include but are not limited to:

  • Enforcing Town bylaws relating to dogs and the General Laws of Massachusetts relating to the care of stray and homeless animals
  • Answering all dog and animal complaints
  • Enforcing dog licensing and leash laws within the town
  • Responding to deceased wildlife in or on public roadways or land managed by the Town
  • Managing the disposal of smaller wildlife in a safe and lawful manner

Gannon has been running Precision Wildlife for approximately 20 years, and possesses a wealth of knowledge and experience relating to animal removal and services. He said he looks forward to streamlining the process of animal removal and other services for the town and hopes to be a long-term fit for the town’s needs.

“This board has talked before about bringing local businesses together with the municipality, and this is a move in the right direction,” Board of Selectmen Vice-Chair Peter Spagone, Jr. said. “Ed is someone who is already in town, and who donates his time and money to different sources here in East Bridgewater. This should work out extremely well with the town, and greatly assist many of our departments including the Police Department, the Department of Public Works and the Board of Health.”

Spagone said at the March 14 meeting that both Police Chief Paul O’Brien and DPW Director John Haines were in favor of Gannon’s appointment.

Starting Monday, March 21, residents should call the Office of the Animal Control Officer at 508-378-1637 for any animal control/inspection services needed. Residents should not call Precision Wildlife directly.
