SOUTH KINGSTOWN — Chief Steven Pinch and the Union Fire District of South Kingstown, alongside Chief Thomas Reed and the Kingston Fire District, report that both departments responded to a building fire in town yesterday.

Units from UFD and KFD were dispatched to a fire alarm at a local auto repair shop on Route 2 at approximately noon on Tuesday, March 8. Upon arrival, firefighters found a fire between the roof and the ceiling of the building.

Members from both departments worked together to quickly extinguish the fire and prevent further spread.

The Exeter Fire Department responded with a tanker to assist with water supply.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.

“We thank our mutual aid partners from Kingston and Exeter for assisting in responding to yesterday’s fire, and we commend all firefighters involved for their quick and efficient response,” Chief Pinch said.
