WHITMAN — Superintendent Jeffrey Szymaniak is pleased to announce that Whitman-Hanson Regional High School Principal Christopher Jones has been named Administrator of the Year by the Massachusetts School Counselors Association.
Principal Jones was nominated for the award by Ruth Carrigan, Whitman-Hanson’s Director of School Counseling. It was given out as part of the MASCA annual awards ceremony in February.
Throughout his time at WHRHS, Principal Jones has been a motivating force in creating a successful learning environment for his students. He played an important role in furthering the school’s MyCap work and Panther Pathways Initiative.
“Chris continues to prove himself as an active and engaged administrator,” Carrigan said. “He is known for urging his colleagues to share their voices, encouraging a collaborative workspace. He also avoids stagnation in his own responsibilities by routinely participating in staff training sessions.”
The Massachusetts School Counselor Association annually presents a recipient with the Administrator of the Year award, granted to those who have made an outstanding and significant contribution to the counseling movement.
“Chris is one of the most supportive principals I have worked with in my 24-year career,” Carrigan added. “He values our school counseling team, supports the importance of the work we do, and trusts us as key facilitators of student success.”
Additional awards given at the MASCA’s annual awards included School Counselor of the Year, Counselor Educator of the Year, the Rising Star Award, the Leadership Award and more.
