SOUTH EASTON — Superintendent Luis Lopes and Principal Leslie Weckesser are pleased to report that Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School held a pinning ceremony for the Southeastern Nurse Assisting Class of 2022 this week.
At a ceremony Wednesday, March 2 in the school’s new Performing Arts Center, 17 students were recognized for their individual certifications completed in the fields of CMS Hand and Hand Dementia Training, First Aid/CPR, Home Health Aide Training and Nurse Aide Training. The ceremony was attended by family, friends and educators.
A pinning ceremony is a tradition to welcome new graduates into the healthcare professions, as it symbolizes the dedication of the graduates’ service to the ill and injured.
“The pinning ceremony was a wonderful evening, and we thank everyone who came out and celebrated all that our graduates have achieved and will achieve in the future,” said upperclass Nurse Assisting instructor Nanci Munro, RN, BSN.
The Southeastern Nurse Assisting Class of 2022 includes the following:
Je’Nniah Cooper, Caleigh Demartino, Raquel Dos Reis, Darlene Ezeonugu, Nayika Flerisma, De’Eryn Jones, Jazelyn Mercado, Skylah Nadeau, Ekaterini Nikolaidou, Carla Pina De Carvalho, Rosimila Rosa, Tamba Sewa, Ana Paula Souza, Ariella Taylor, Liannie Teixeira, Aurora Theberge and Alexa Wright.
As part of the evening, Principal Weckesser gave a welcome address, Nanci Munro gave an opening address, and upperclass Nurse Assisting instructor Laura Drew, RN, BSN, spoke of the history behind the pinning tradition.
Munro and Drew then led the pinning ceremony. Underclass Nurse Assisting teacher Kim Berglund read the names of each student during the pinning, and Vocational Supervisor Mary Koby presented the class following the ceremony.
Student speakers included Skylah Nadeau (CNA), who gave the student address, and Darlene Ezeonugo (CNA), who served as class speaker.
“The past four years have been an incredible learning experience, and being in this program made us recognize the meaningful impact we could have on someone’s life even by doing the slightest things,” Ezeonugo said. “We came to realize the intense compassion that comes with being in healthcare. The countless diverse skills I have learned have established an incredible foundation for me that I will carry with me as I further my career.”
A slideshow presentation was also shown, highlighting the school careers of the graduates.
The Southeastern Nurse Assisting Class of 2022 would like to thank the Guardian Center of Brockton for hosting the class for clinical work, as well as the following co-op sites:
