TEWKSBURY – Chief Ryan Columbus reports that the Tewksbury Police Department is investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Friday night.

At about 9:18 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 25, Tewksbury Police responded to the area of 360 Main St. for a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. During an initial on-scene investigation, responding officers learned that the pedestrian was walking along the side of the roadway when they were struck by a privately-owned snowplow.

Police also learned that the snowplow was not plowing at the time.

The pedestrian was treated by first responders at the scene. The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital by ambulance, then transported by medical helicopter to a Boston hospital for further treatment of their injuries..

The incident remains under investigation by the Tewksbury Police Department, jointly with the office of the Middlesex District Attorney, which is standard in serious pedestrian crashes, and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.

No further information is being released at this time.
