TYNGSBORO — Superintendent Jill Davis is pleased to announce that PBLWorks, the leading provider of professional development for Project Based Learning, has selected Greater Lowell Technical High School to participate in its 2022 PBL Massachusetts School Leader Network.
This two-year professional development program, which starts in March 2022, provides intensive professional development and support to help participants create the ideal conditions for implementing high-quality Project Based Learning at their schools and making it self-sustaining.
Greater Lowell Technical High School’s participation in the PBL Massachusetts School Leader Network will further expand opportunities for students to actively participate in their two-in-one educational model, further preparing them with the academic and technical skills, plus the critical thinking necessary to be successful in college, career, and/or the armed services.
Instructional design models, such as those presented by PBLWorks, intentionally integrate opportunities for students to take ownership of their learning through projects that connect their academic and vocational content to the challenges and opportunities seen both locally and globally, further expanding their abilities to be informed and active global citizens.
In addition to supporting the growth and development of students, the School Leader Network presents an opportunity for teachers and administrators to learn together, and to craft a shared vision about not only what teaching and learning can look like, but what it should look as conditions normalize following the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Greater Lowell Technical High School’s staff and students strive to R.E.A.C.H. (Respect, Effort, Accountability, Commitment, and Honesty), and their participation in the School Leader Network will support the school community in further meeting those goals
“Project Based Learning is a powerful instructional approach and a way to make great things happen for our students and deepen their learning in their academic and technical programs,” said Superintendent Davis.
Generous financial support for the PBL School Leader Network is being provided by the One8 Foundation, whose mission focuses on helping schools and teachers prepare students for success, focusing on STEM, 21st-century skills, and applied learning opportunities.
PBLWorks’ PBL School Leader Networks, which are taking place in Massachusetts and California, offer a blend of face-to-face and online workshops, personal online coaching for each school, and deep collaboration with a peer network of fellow local Project Based Learning leaders. Leadership teams from across Massachusetts are selected to participate in each PBL School Leader Network.
“Greater Lowell Technical High School has shown an incredible passion for, and commitment to, Project Based Learning and we are looking forward to having their leadership team participate in our 2022 School Leader Network,” said Bob Lenz, CEO of PBLWorks.
