GCVS Enrollment Now Open for 2022-2023 School Year
GREENFIELD — Director of Enrollment Michelle Morrissey is pleased to announce that the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has increased the total enrollment cap for the Greater Commonwealth Virtual School to 1,200 students.
This increase is in support of students who are faced with health challenges that prevent them from safely being enrolled in a brick and mortar school.
As a result of this increase, GCVS has been able to reopen the 2021-2022 (current school year) application for students in grades 7-12. In addition, enrollment is now open for the 2022-2023 (next) school year.
GCVS opens the application process for the following school year by each spring. An enrollment application is available to any potential applicant on the school website. To fill out an application for either the current academic year or the next, click here.
The Greater Commonwealth Virtual School is a public school of choice serving K-12 students from across all of Massachusetts.
GCVS will now have a total enrollment cap of 1,200 K-12 students, which is up from the previous cap of 1,050. Students are entered into a random lottery system if the number of applicants exceeds enrollment capacity, and lottery results are published on the GCVS website. Families receive an acceptance or waitlist notification via email within one week.
The deadline to fill out an application for the reopened 2021-2022 application is Friday, Feb. 25. The deadline for the first lottery for the 2022-2023 (next) school year is Friday, April 1. Early applications are encouraged.
Subsequent lotteries are held every two weeks.

Additionally, those interested can register to attend a live virtual open house to hear directly from GCVS staff. The most recent open house was held Tuesday, Feb 15. Upcoming open houses will be held at 7 p.m., and will take place on the following dates:

- Tuesday, April 12
- Wednesday, May 11
