ENFIELD – Superintendent Amanda Isabelle is pleased to share that students at the Indian River Middle School are taking part in a community service project to benefit patients at Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock (CHaD).
Students in sixth-grade teacher Christine Labore’s class perform community service throughout the year. This year students decided they wanted to assist critically ill children at CHaD via projects throughout the school year.
Most recently, students created tie blankets and pillows. Students brought in or purchased fleece, enough to create 22 tie blankets. One student, Lyla Payson, made all 22 pillows.
Blankets and pillows will be delivered in the coming weeks.
“The students were excited and very engaged in doing something nice for children they knew were going through a very difficult time,” Labore said. “Their hard work and dedication is bringing a little happiness into these children’s lives.”
“I could not be prouder of our students,” Superintendent Isabelle said. “At a time when they could be focused on themselves, and amid the COVID-19 pandemic, they are caring for others first. We value community service throughout the District, and these students are embodying that.”
