TEWKSBURY — Police Chief Ryan M. Columbus reports that the Tewksbury Police Department is charging a man with firing a gunshot on Main Street during the early morning hours of Dec. 18.
TYLER SHAW, AGE 26, OF MANCHESTER, N.H., is being charged with:
- Illegal Possession of a Firearm
- Discharging a Firearm Within 500 Feet of a Dwelling
- Assault With a Dangerous Weapon — Firearm (Two Counts)
On Dec. 18, at approximately 3:40 a.m., Tewksbury Police responded to a report of a gunshot in the area of the Motel 6 on Main Street.
Upon arrival, officers conducted an on-scene investigation that determined a shot had been fired toward several victims in the area of the motel. No injuries were reported. The suspect fled the area prior to the arrival of police.
Tewksbury detectives conducted a follow up investigation which led to them identifying SHAW as the shooter. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for SHAW from Lowell District Court, and with assistance from Manchester, N.H. Police, SHAW was taken into custody without incident in Manchester.
SHAW is currently in custody in New Hampshire pending rendition to Massachusetts. SHAW will be arraigned in Lowell District Court once he is in Massachusetts.
Tewksbury Police do not believe the incident was a random act.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
