TAUNTON — Superintendent John Cabral, Principal Michael Byron and Taunton Police Chief Edward J. Walsh report that a threatening message referencing Taunton’s John F. Parker Middle School was deemed not credible as a result of an investigation.
As a result of Taunton Police and Taunton Public Schools’ joint investigation, it has been determined that a threat discovered earlier today referencing the Parker Middle School was not credible and that there is no danger to students or staff.
Taunton Public Schools has subsequently lifted its additional security protocols enacted this morning out of an abundance of caution. School operations will also resume as normal.
Throughout the morning, students continued with their regularly scheduled lessons with minimal disruption.
“We would like to thank the Taunton Police Department for their quick action in responding to this incident and our community members for their patience and cooperation,” Superintendent Cabral said. “We’ve seen an increase in a number of social media threats targeting school districts across the nation in recent weeks. At Taunton Public Schools we take all threats and threatening language seriously as we are committed to a safe and secure learning environment.”
