WOBURN — Superintendent Matt Crowley, Mayor Scott Galvin, and the Woburn Board of Health are pleased to announce a COVID-19 vaccination clinic for the second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for students ages 5-11.
The clinic will be held Saturday, Dec. 11, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Woburn Memorial High School, 88 Montvale Ave.
Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, has been approved by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration for those ages 5 and older. The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is a two-dose regimen, with three weeks between the first and second doses.
This is the second Pfizer vaccine clinic held by Woburn Public Schools, with more than 300 students receiving the first dose of the vaccine.
Vaccines are free, identification is not required, and insurance is not required to get the second dose. Attendees at the clinic will be required to wear masks and maintain physical distance in accordance with current Massachusetts guidelines regarding clinics.
Students and parents attending the clinic are reminded to bring their vaccination card to obtain documentation of the second dose.
“Our first clinic turned out to be a great success and we encourage all eligible residents to get the second dose of the vaccine,” said Superintendent Crowley, “We want our residents to be safe and healthy, and getting fully vaccinated is a great way to prevent the spread within our community.”
The CDC recommends anyone age 5 and older get the vaccine in order to stop the spread of COVID-19 as cases continue to rise following the Omicron variant.
“I’m really pleased with this collaborative effort continuing to provide these important vaccine clinics to our students,” said Mayor Galvin.
