EAST BRIDGEWATER — Police Chief Paul O’Brien reports that the East Bridgewater Police Department responded to a fatal crash earlier today.
At about 3 p.m., East Bridgewater Police and Fire were dispatched to a report of a crash in the area of 698 Bedford St. (Route 18). Upon arrival, first responders determined that a single vehicle left the roadway, crashed into multiple objects and rolled over.
The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle had to be extricated from inside by members of the East Bridgewater Fire Department but was pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicle had been traveling southbound on Route 18 prior to the crash near the intersection of Route 106.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the East Bridgewater Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the Plymouth County Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
The driver was a male in his late 20s. His identity is being withheld at this time pending notification of his next of kin.
