ARLINGTON — Chief Julie Flaherty is pleased to announce that members of the Arlington Police Department are taking part in No Shave November for the third year in a row to support the fight against cancer.
Through the campaign, members of the department may forgo facial hair restrictions during November and donate or raise $100 to support cancer research at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Many Arlington Police Officers have had their lives touched by cancer recently, including retired Lt. Dan Kelly, who was recently diagnosed with cancer and is receiving treatment from Massachusetts General Hospital.
“The fight against cancer is one that is very personal for all of us here at the department,” Chief Flaherty said. “We are proud to be supporting No Shave November and one of our retired officers as he battles this terrible disease. I invite residents who are able to do so to join us in supporting Lt. Kelly and Massachusetts General Hospital.”
The department has set a fundraising goal of $5,000, but hopes to exceed that to provide even greater support to Massachusetts General Hospital. Community members can donate to Arlington Police Department’s No Shave fundraiser by clicking here.
Anyone who donates to the cause will receive a selfie of an officer showcasing their No Shave November beard.
