NEWBURYPORT — City Marshal Mark Murray reports that the Newburyport Police Department is actively searching for a suspect involved in a robbery this afternoon.
At approximately 2:05 p.m., Newburyport Police responded to CVS, 13 1/2 Pond St., for a report of a robbery.
Upon arrival, police learned that a man had walked into the store and approached the pharmacy counter. He reportedly handed the pharmacist a note claiming to have a bomb and demanding prescription drugs. The suspect fled the store with an undisclosed quantity of prescription drugs.
The suspect is described as a male in his 30’s or 40’s, approximately 5-feet-10-inches to 6-feet tall and between 160-170 pounds. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a bright blue Nike-branded hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, a navy blue baseball-style hat, gray-colored shoes with white soles and a light blue surgical mask.
The suspect may be driving a blue older-model pickup truck with New Hampshire plates.
