TYNGSBORO — Superintendent Jill Davis and Assistant Superintendent/Principal Michael Barton are pleased to announce that four Greater Lowell Technical High School students have been selected as Students of the Month for September.
Students are selected for academic achievement and for displaying the school’s core values of REACH — Respect, Effort, Accountability, Commitment, and Honesty. These students also reflect Greater Lowell’s mission to ensure students’ readiness for career, college, and citizenship in the 21st century.
Ryan Hughes has been selected as Senior Student of the Month for September. Ryan is a resident of Dracut and entered Greater Lowell from the Ste. Jeanne D’Arc School. Ryan is majoring in Electrical and currently works as an electrician’s apprentice through our Cooperative Education Program with Aboody Electrical in Dennis. He maintains an overall GPA of 3.78 while pursuing a challenging schedule which includes AP Calculus AB, Honors English, and Honors Physics. In addition, he is a member of our Varsity Swim and Dive Team, serving as Captain in the 2020-2021 season and receiving MIP and MVP awards. He is an active member/competitor of SkillsUSA and is currently serving as a Chapter Officer. In addition, Ryan was awarded a Bronze medal in the 2021 SkillsUSA MA District 4 Competition for Electrical Construction Wiring this past spring. Ryan is also an active member of our school community who volunteers at our open houses and other community service initiatives. Ryan was nominated as a student who models our Core Values of Effort, Commitment, and Accountability through his exceptional efforts to make a positive impact in our school community. Following graduation, Ryan plans to continue his career in the Electrical field with a focused goal of becoming a member of the local IBEW 103 union.
Chelsey Khe has been selected as Junior Student of the Month for September. Chelsey is a resident of Lowell and entered Greater Lowell from the Lowell Community Charter School. Chelsey is majoring in Cosmetology and is ranked 7th in her class with an overall GPA of 4.28. She has received awards for Honor Roll, High Honor Roll, SkillsUSA, and Outstanding Achievement in our annual Science Fair. Chelsey has chosen a challenging schedule that includes Advanced Placement Environmental Science, Honors English, and Honors Precalculus. In addition, Chelsey will be inducted as a member of the National Technical Honor Society/National Honor Society on November 10, 2021. Chelsey is also a member of the Student Council, Dance Club, and the Junior Class Planning Committee and recently participated in service projects during Homecoming Week and Back to School Night. Outside of school, Chelsey is gaining additional experience in her technical field through her work as a part-time salon receptionist/assistant for Spa and Polish, a family-owned salon in Bedford. Following graduation, she plans to enter the field of Cosmetology and further her technical education with additional coursework. Chelsey was nominated as a student who models our Core Values of Accountability, Commitment, and Effort. She is described by her Technical Theory Instructor as being a student who puts her best effort into every day while respecting everyone in the classroom and shop. Chelsey is always willing to help others and always has a smile.
Giovanna Masson has been selected as Sophomore Student of the Month for September. Giovanna is a resident of Lowell and entered Greater Lowell from the Henry J. Robinson Middle School in Lowell. Giovanna is majoring in Information Technology Services and maintains a cumulative GPA of 4.49. Giovanna maintains a rigorous schedule that includes Honors English, Honors Geometry, Honors U.S. History, and Advanced Placement Computer Science Principles. She has received awards for Honor Roll and High Honor Roll, and SkillsUSA. She is active in school clubs/activities and participates in the Sophomore Class Planning Committee, Music Club, and Peer Tutoring. In addition, Giovanna served as a Student Leader in our Summer Program and is a member of our Junior Varsity Tennis Team. Outside of school, Giovanna is involved in Aaron’s Presents, a local non-profit organization that empowers youth to make a positive impact in their communities through service projects and volunteerism. After graduation, Giovanna plans to continue her education and pursue a career in Information Technology. Giovanna was nominated for embracing our Core Values of Respect, Commitment, and Effort through her commitment to her studies and her willingness to help her classmates and teachers
Molly (Mac) Maguire has been selected as Freshman Student of the Month for September. Mac is a resident of Lowell and entered Greater Lowell from the Dr. An Wang Middle School in Lowell. In middle school, Mac received awards for Honor Roll and participated in Student Council and Drama Club, and played recreational field hockey for the Chelmsford Field Hockey League (CFHL). Mac has become an active member of the GL Tech community and represented the Freshman Class in our 9/11 Tribute. She is also a member of the Greater Lowell Field Hockey Team and participates in Freshman Class events and activities. Mac is maintaining high honor roll grades in all of her academic courses and is previewing our technical areas through the Exploratory Program. She is currently in the process of completing pre-coursework in Carpentry, Health Assisting, Automotive Technology, and Painting and Design Technology. Mac came to Greater Lowell with a focused goal of pursuing a career as a Surgical Nurse and intends to pursue a major in either Health Assisting/Pre-Nursing or Medical Laboratory and Assisting. Mac was nominated as a student who consistently displays our Core Values of Respect, Accountability, and Honesty through her positive contributions to our school community, dedication to her academic and technical studies, and her willingness to embrace opportunities.
