HATHORNE — Superintendent Dr. Heidi Riccio and Principal Shannon Donnelly are pleased to share that Essex Tech held its first pep rally in over two years on Friday.
The pep rally capped a week of competitions between grade levels, with students competing in a variety of contests to earn points toward winning the coveted Hawk Cup, which has gone to the winning grade level since 2017.
Among the contests for students were a tricycle contest, a relay race, a cheering contest, and a clothing colors competition.
Teachers participated in a musical chairs competition during the pep rally, with Cosmetology Teacher Cassia Gilroy beating out Football Coach Dan Connors in a good-natured battled for the last chair.
“It was such a welcome sight to see everyone smiling, dancing, and engaging with each other after the challenging times we have faced as a community over the past months and years,” said Superintendent Riccio. “This was just what we needed after all we’ve been through to get back to being the fun-loving, dedicated community of learners that Essex Tech always has been.”
