TYNGSBORO — Superintendent Jill Davis is pleased to share that Greater Lowell Technical High School held a Career and College Fair and a Part-time Job Fair to help connect students with opportunities for employment and higher education.
The fourth annual Career and College Fair included representatives from about 75 different colleges, unions, employers, and all branches of the U.S. military, who were on hand in the school’s gymnasium on Oct. 18 from 3 to 5 p.m.
Organized by the School Counseling Department, the event also included a post-secondary education planning presentation for students and their families.
“We have expanded this annual event to include even more presenters and organizations that offer higher education and career opportunities for students in all of our 23 technical programs,” said School Counselor Andrew Blatus. “We were pleased to see so many students with their parents or guardians attend this year, and we hope that number will continue to grow as we offer more opportunities each year.”
On Oct. 21, Greater Lowell Technical High School hosted a Part-time Job Fair as well. The event was organized in partnership with MassHire’s Greater Lowell Workforce Board, and featured 31 local employers who provided students 16 and older with opportunities to apply for jobs, and in some cases be interviewed on the spot.
“We are grateful for the support and resources our community partners provided to make these two events a success,” Superintendent Davis said. “I was pleased that so many students attended the events and were exploring the different career opportunities and postsecondary education options that Greater Lowell Technical High School has prepared them for.”
